Honolulu Beerworks

The craft beer scene in Hawaii has changed dramatically in the past two years since I was there last. On a recent trip we had discovered it was a desert for craft beer lovers no more!
Typically it was Maui or Kona Brewing companies and a small brewery on Kauai that had the run of the market, and Honolulu’s craft beer scene was non-existent.
There are now 2 micro breweries in the city, one of which we visited today. After a 2km walk from the Ala Moana Centre (a Shopper & Diners paradise) and building up a wee thirst, I hate to say it, but the blue shed that stood before my husband and I didn’t give us great expectations, but boy were we wrong!!
We opted for a flight of 6 beers ($12 in total) and can gladly say every one of them was GREAT! Not only that, but the server was knowledgeable on all the beers on offer. Great service.
We opted for a flight heavy in IPA’s with a surprising Pilsner and ESB added. In short, nothing was bad but the Hi-PA was absolutely a stand out. In a brewery known for its stouts, this is creating a lot of converts.
Not only was the beer great but the food on offer makes this place a must for lunch also. With the 80’s theme music in the background setting the scene for the great food and great beer on offer it was definitely a WINNER in our books.
We highly recommend and will definitely be back!
